Composition:
Watery, sterile solution containing:
-Oxytetracycline Dihydrarat Ph.Eur. equivalent of 300 mg/ml oxytetracycline base.
Indications:
Alamycin LA 300 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated in the treatment of diseases caused by or in combination with oxytetracycline-sensitive microorganisms in cattle, sheep and pigs. A wide spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms are sensitive to oxytetracycline, including: Bordetella bronchiseptica, Actinomyces pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Pasteurella spp, Staphylococcus spp and Streptococcus spp. Certain mycoplasmas, rickets, protozoa and chlamydia are also sensitive to oxytetracycline. Alamycin LA 300 can be used to treat and control a wide range of general systemic, respiratory, urinary and local infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive microorganisms. Specific indications of Alamycin LA 300 include: pasteurelosis, pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, rujet, joint infections associated with omphalitis, summer cow mastitis, kelatoconjunctivitis of sheep (pink eye disease), as well as in the control of enzootic sheep abortion.
Dosage and mode of administration:
Alamycin LA 300 is formulated specifically to have a long-lasting action consisting of sustained antibacterial activity. As a result of intramuscular administration, blood levels persist for 3 to 4 days at a dosage of 20 mg/kg and for 5 to 6 days at a dosage of 30 mg/kg. The maximum blood level is reached within 4 to 6 hours after administration, which makes Alamycin LA 300 indicated for the treatment of acute infections. It is given in deep intramuscular injections in cattle, sheep and soot for the treatment and control of diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the action of oxytetracycline. Alamycin LA 300 can be given at a standard dose of 20 mg/kg to achieve a duration of action of 3–4 days, or at a high dose of 30 mg/kg for a long duration of action (this means that the action occurs for 5–6 days). Use aseptic instrumentation.
Cattle, sheep, swine:
standard dose - 20 mg/kg (1 ml/15 kg),
increased dose - 30 mg/kg (1 ml/10 kg).
The maximum recommended dose of the drug for inoculation in a single point:
Cattle: 15 ml
Pigs: 10 ml
Sheep: 5 ml
Piglets: first day 0.2 ml
7 days 0.3 ml
14 days 0.4 ml
21 days 0.5 ml
over 21 days 1 ml/ 10 kg.
Contraindications, warnings:
Do not dilute Alamycin LA 300. Although Alamycin LA 300 is well tolerated, sometimes a mild, transient local reaction can be observed. The use of tetracyclines during tooth growth and bone formation, including during gestation, may cause them to fade. Treatment with oxytetracycline does not completely eliminate the clamidial infection from a herd. If a treatment with another product is applied at the same time inject in separate points.
Pharmaceutical precautions:
Do not store at temperatures above 25 °C. Beware of light. After opening the vial, use the contents within 28 days. Keep out of the reach of children. This product does not contain antimicrobial preservative. Always wipe the lid before extracting the product. Use a syringe and aseptic needle. After opening the bottle for the first time, the final date for use of the product will be passed.
Warning for staff using the product:
Accidental self-puncture will be prevented. Wash your hands after handling the product. In case of eye or skin contact, wash immediately with water to avoid irritation.
Waiting time:
Meat: Animals should not be intended for human consumption during treatment. At the dose of 20 mg/kg: bovine animals and sheep may be slaughtered for human consumption only 28 days after the last treatment. Pigs can only be slaughtered for human consumption 14 days after the last treatment. At the dose of 30 mg/kg: bovine animals may be slaughtered for human consumption only 35 days after the last treatment. Sheep and pigs may be slaughtered for human consumption only 28 days after the last treatment.
Milk: During treatment, do not use milk for human consumption. Milk intended for human consumption may be used from cows only 10 days after the last treatment. Milk intended for human consumption from sheep may be used only 8 days after the last treatment.
Storage:
If Alamycin LA 300 is stored as shown above, it maintains its effectiveness for 2 years from the date of manufacture. After the protective cover has been removed and the contents have been exposed to air, the solution may darken, but it retains its effectiveness.
Presentation: 100 ml and 250 ml vials.
