PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC ACTION Ivermectin stimulates the release of gamma aminobutyric acid in the neuronal synapses, these acting as a neuroinhibitor blocking the transmission of nerve impulse which results in paralysis and death of the parasites TARGET SPECIES Dogs. INDICATIONS Treatment used against endoparasites caused by nematodes (Trichocephalus spp., Toxocara spp., Ancylostoma spp., Uncinaria spp., Dirofilaria spp.) and ectoparasites caused by acariens (Sarcoptes spp., Otodectes spp., Demodex spp.). POSOLOGY, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION Ivermectin is used orally in dogs older than 6 weeks, as follows: - for the treatment of endoparasites caused by nematodes (Trichocephalus spp., Toxocara spp., Ancylostoma spp., Uncinaria spp., Dirofilaria spp.) the recommended dose is 1 tablet / 10 kg body weight (0.3 mg ivermectin / kg body weight), 2 treatments every 10 days - for the treatment of ectoparasites caused by acariens (Sarcoptes spp., Otodectes spp., Demodex spp.) the recommended dose is 1.5 tablets / 10 kg body weight (4.5 mg ivermectin / kg body weight), 3 treatments every 10 days CONTRAINDICATIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS Do not use in dogs up to 6 weeks of age. Due to the sensitivity to ivermectin do not use in dogs from the following breeds: Collie, Old English Sheepdog (and their half-breeds) and American Cocker. Generally, respecting the correct dose, the product is well tolerated and has no adverse reactions. There is no contradiction in using the product in females during mating, gestation and lactation period. Preliminary studies performed in vivo, proved that ivermectin can enhance the pharmacological action of diazepam. In case of overdose it might appear disorders such as: gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and in nervous central system (anorexia, dehydration, weight losses, mydriasis, ataxy, depression, shiverings etc.).
